Springboard will provide arts and education opportunities for children with disabilities in the Special School District.
On September 14, Springboard was awarded a contract from The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, becoming a contractual provider of educational services through VSA Affiliates Worldwide. VSA (originally Very Special Arts) is an energetic, national and international network of cultural and educational organizations, developing socially sustainable programs that serve individuals – youth and adults – with disabilities and the communities in which they reside. The $15,000 contract allows Springboard to implement “The Art of Story” within nine different Special School District schools located in Ferguson-Florissant, Hazelwood and Jennings School Districts.
A special thanks to teaching partner/artist Sherry Norfolk for the opportunity to collaborate. She and Springboard teaching partner/artists Annette Harrison and Karen Young are facilitating this creative storytelling/story-writing residency in 27 classrooms, reaching approximately 300 St. Louis students with disabilities.
