Displaced students enjoy educational programming at Ferguson Library.

The world turned upside-down for families in the Ferguson-Florissant School District as a result of the unfortunate police shooting and subsequent protests in Ferguson last month. The first day of school was postponed. Many students had no place else to go, forcing parents to find alternative care. Fortunately the Ferguson Library stepped in – along with teachers, volunteers and organizations from throughout the area. Springboard quickly garnered teaching partner support and coordinated dozens of free program hours for displaced students. The community response was overwhelming!
