Springboard Development Director
POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Director is charged with meeting fundraising goals through major gifts, individual gifts, planned gifts, sponsorships, grants and special events.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
»Collaborates with Executive Director and Resource Development Committee in developing and implementing annual fundraising plan, including strategies and goals.
» Proposes and monitors the fundraising budget and prepares reports for Resource Development, Finance and Gala Committees and Board of Directors.
» In partnership with the Executive Director and Board, assists in researching, identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts, planned gifts, individual gifts and corporate sponsorships.
» In partnership with the Executive Director, the grant writer, and the program department, researches grants, writes grant proposals, oversees the writing of grants by the grant writer, tracks grant awards, writes grant reports, manages grant filing system and calendar.
» In partnership with the Marketing Coordinator, produces and oversees direct mail appeals.
» In partnership with the Marketing Coordinator, develops and coordinates online giving program.
» Assures quality of processing of donations and stewardship, preparing acknowledgement letters with support from administrative staff.
» In partnership with the Executive Director and the Board, coordinates all aspects of the annual Gala, meeting fundraising goals through table sales, auctions, raffle and corporate and individual sponsorships.
» In partnership with the Executive Director, Marketing Coordinator and the Young Friends Board, assists with the annual Trivia Night through table sales and corporate and individual sponsorships.
» Serves as an ex-officio member of the Resource Development Committee, Board Development and Governance Committee, Gala Committee and Young Friends Board.
» Represents Springboard in professional associations and at community events.
» Other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
» Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
» Ten years fundraising experience with a proven ability to implement development campaigns and meet fundraising goals.
» Proven ability to manage donor relations, retention, increasing donor giving.
» Advanced organizational skills, with ability to work within timelines and budgets.
» Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize, multi task and provide attention to detail.
» Proven ability of establishing St. Louis network of contacts with the corporate and philanthropic community.
» Proficiency in word processing (Microsoft Office Suite).
» Knowledge of donor database management.
» Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse populations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
» Ability to work effectively using donor software and other tools on a personal computer for long periods of time.
» Ability to work eight hours per day in an office environment.
» Ability to drive.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Position Type: This is a full-time position, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week and eligible for Springboard’s benefits package. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Evaluation: Initial evaluation after 90 days; subsequent formal evaluations annually.
