What I Said! – Writing the Story and Telling It

Teaching Artist: Branislav Tomich

In this original monologue writing class for kids, student authors/performers engage in verbal and physical activities designed to liberate and excavate the imagination. Led by award-winning actor and playwright Branislav Tomich, this residency provides self-exploration by investing in the creation and presentation of personal stories and creative imaginings. Students explore language arts through the creation of two original monologues (non-fiction/ autobiographical and fiction). Focus is placed on the influence of imagery towards the goal of transposing these images into the “power of the spoken word.” Benefits of this residency include: enhanced communication skills, confidence building, empowerment, presentation skills and ensemble building through verbally shared stories.
