Voice and Verse

Teaching Artist: Pacia Elaine Anderson

Through spoken word poetry, students will engage in self-exploration, vocabulary expansion, and public speaking. Published poet and spoken word artist Pacia Anderson will work with students on the major elements of spoken word poetry, such as: content, structure, word usage, voice, tone, imagery, and presentation. Utilizing a cross-medium approach (including collage, body movement, literature, and music), students will explore how spoken word can communicate ideas across a broad spectrum of artistic disciplines. The program will culminate in a classroom poetry anthology and/or performance featuring the students’ work. Also available for virtual residencies.
