Visualizing Mathematics

A SPRINGBOARD SIGNATURE PROGRAM

(Originally Developed by Ellie Balk)

Do some of your students struggle to connect with mathematics?  Teaching core math curriculum through the lens of visual art can give the students confidence to learn and absorb more content in creative and fun ways. Students discover new ways of looking at math concepts collaboratively, creating a work of public art to be installed at the school.  This program has been designed to support student critical thinking in creative and collaborative ways and requires them to analyze, support and evaluate their own ideas, improve and maximize creative efforts, and demonstrate originality and inventiveness.

Audience: Grades 3-8
Format: Residency
